52 pedals, week 16—Pro Tone Pedals Paul Masvidal Signature Chorus

It’s been a while, but I figured it was time to step away from the usual overdrive and distortion pedals. I don’t want to step too far away so I’m going with a brand I know and trust from the realm of guitar pedals. A brand that produced one of my all-time favourite distortion pedals—Skumstortion.

Pro Tone Pedals knows how to make awesome looking and awesome sounding guitar pedals. Knowing that, I am confident that the Paul Masvidal Signature Chorus pedal would be an amazing pedal to add to my collection. Truth be told, Skumstortion and a good chorus would be all I’d need for the majority of music I like to play.

The Paul Masvidal Signature Chorus has been created to help guitarists capture the beautiful tones that are featured on Cynic albums Traced In Air and Focus. The pedal creates this tone through the use of (and I quote) “new old stock editions of the long out of production MN3007 BBD ICs which provide a richer fuller sound than that of modern chip-sets.” Apart from that, the pedal’s make-up is fairly straightforward. There are knobs for Depth, Mix and Rate (or Speed).

The pedal is powered like all good pedals are, through the use of a 9 volt negative tip (standard BOSS style). The pedal features true bypass and is made from sturdy and stomp-proof aluminium (aluminum for Americans I suppose).

In true Pro Tone Pedals form, the pedal looks amazing. Nobody does pedal artwork design like this company. Trust me. It’s art you can kick in the face. I love it. Conveniently, the pedal seems to sound amazing as well. I want one. I want one now.

I’m sure I can wait until the end of the year though for the end of this 52 pedals articles.

Disclaimer: I’ve not played this guitar pedal. I have not experienced first-hand the sound or effects of this guitar pedal. That doesn’t matter. It looks awesome, it’s obviously played by winners and I want one.
