52 Amplifier Heads, week 3—Egnater Tweaker

This week I’ve decided to step it up a bit. Where the previous amp heads were one and two watts, the Egnater Tweaker is 15 watts. This is a bigger amp head, but from the research I’ve done this still a reasonably priced amp head. Awesome. What also impressed me while researching this amplifier, was the quality of video on the amplifier itself. Egnater has a great little introductory video that explains the amplifier’s features while this YouTube video provides some very good sound bites of the amplifier’s natural tones. And it sounds great!

The Tweaker gets its name from all the tweaks it allows you to apply to your guitar sound. You can alternate between British (Marshall), AC and American (Fender) tones and you can switch between hot/clean, bright/normal and tight/deep. So much variety. Let’s check out the official specs list.

  • 15 watts
  • 2 x 6V6 Power Tubes
  • 3 x 12AX7 Preamp Tubes
  • Master volume, gain and 3-band graphic equaliser
  • Buffered effects loop
  • 100V, 115V and 230V switchable
  • British/AC/American switch
  • Hot/clean switch
  • Bright/normal switch
  • Tight/deep switch

Impressive little thing is it not? Make sure you check out that first video I referenced above. It does a great job of highlighting this amps features.

This amp is all tubes and all tone. To top it all off, it looks amazing. I’d be mighty impressed to have this amp in my room. Mighty impressed.

Disclaimer: I’ve not played through this head. I have not experienced the sound or tone of this head other than through video. That doesn’t matter. It looks awesome, it’s obviously played by winners and I want one.
