52 Guitars, week 36—Gittler Guitar

Regular readers of this blog will know I look for a few things in my guitars before I add them to this wishlist. Those things are uniqueness, the ability to purchase the guitar in black or white and that whole cool factor. According to what I’ve read in the Gittler Guitar‘s Press Kit, this guitar ticks all of those boxes. People who follow me on Twitter would also know I’m partial to metal (the musical genre). Well this guitar is almost completely metal (material). The Gittler Guitar keeps on ticking the right boxes!

If you haven’t scrolled down to view the photograph of the Gittler Guitar already, you may want to do so now. This is unlike any other guitar you’ve likely viewed before. There is essentially no body on this guitar. Almost all of the guitar is playable interface. Add to that fact this guitar has LED fret markers and the checklist for cool features gets ridiculously long. Let’s build that list anyway shall we?

  • Titanium construction
  • LED fret markers
  • Patented locking string mechanism
  • Adjustable bridge
  • Locking strap anchor points
  • Interchangeable locking neck profiles
  • Black chrome DLC coating on the deluxe model
  • The ability to work with most 13-pin guitar synthesisers
  • Standard 1/4″ output
  • Six pickups (one per string)
  • Infinite Gliss
  • 31 frets

31 frets. Yep. How amazingly cool is that? Linked to the 31 frets feature is the Infinite Gliss feature. You may have noticed that in the list above and wondered “What exactly is Infinite Gliss?” Infinite Gliss is the ability to play well beyond the 31st fret. In fact you play over the pickups and all the way down to the tuners. This guitar makes four octaves possible on the one instrument. All with six strings.

Watch the demo video on the Gittler Guitar website. Look at the amazing photographs on their Flickr page. Then imagine what you could do with a guitar like this … Especially in Black Chrome!

Disclaimer: I’ve not played this guitar. I have not experienced the sound or feel of this guitar. That doesn’t matter. It looks awesome, it’s obviously played by winners and I want one.
